Photographing weddings easily has to be one of my favourite things to do, falling somewhere near spending time with Ryan and watching kitten videos and it would be an understatement to say I had been eagerly anticipating the start of wedding season and getting to see all of my wonderful couples again! After four months off It felt good to get back in to the swing of things; the energy of excitement and anticipation in the getting ready room, watching the groom see his bride for the first time, the sweet romantic moments shared by the bride and groom during picture time, and how I have to fight to hold back tears during speeches and first dances are just a few of the things I love and missed dearly during the last 4 months!
Last weekend kicked off the start of a very busy wedding season with Samantha and Donovan’s wedding at the Victoria Inn!
One of my favourite parts of Samantha and Donovan’s story is the legacy of love they’ve inherited from both sets of parents, who are still happily married and crazy in love with each other, and how they incorporated this in to their day! Not only did Samantha and Donovan dedicate their wedding to their parents, who prove daily marriage is possible, Samantha had a couple of very special details by her side as she said I do to her soulmate.
As Samantha made her way down the aisle, her dad holding her hand on her left side, her right hand held on to the same bouquet her mother had carried decades earlier when she said I do to the very man walking their daughter down the aisle! Tucked safely in Samantha’s beautifully curled hair was a veil trimmed with lace from Donovan’s mom’s dress she wore on her wedding day, with two heirlooms close to her that have helped usher in decades of marriage it’s a wonderful way to start a marriage!
Thank you Samantha and Donovan for asking me to be a part of your big day! I had a wonderful time celebrating with you and your families and friends! May the next chapter of your life bring you love, happiness, and many wonderful memories!
