Speeches are one of my favourite parts of the night. Listening to the people who’ve known my couples the longest gives me an insight in to who they are that I don’t always get during our short time together. And you know what? The same thing happens every time. The words being spoken about my couples ring so true that I can’t help but beam with pride at knowing that I’ve had the pleasure and privilege of serving such amazing people during such a special time in their lives.
This weekend’s wedding was no different. As I stood there, camera at the ready to photograph the reactions of Layla and Justina and the people closest to them, I could feel tears welling up in the corners of my eyes because, as I listened to the words Justina and Layla’s family and friends were speaking about them, I felt as if I got to know them on a deeper level and learn just how truly amazing they are.
It’s obvious that Layla and Justina are both smart, ambitious, caring women (as evidenced by their careers as an RCMP officer and a nurse and their dedication to not only their careers but each other) but hearing their families talk about these qualities they’ve admired for so long makes me so proud of who they are and what they’ve accomplished both separately and together.
Justina and Layla, it was an honour to work with you during this special time! Thank you for entrusting me with documenting such a momentous time in your lives! I wish you nothing but love, laughter, and beautiful memories as you begin this next chapter of your lives together!
